Privacy Policy

This is what the Cooliyall app collects, why, and what happens to it. Written in plain language on purpose — a privacy policy only means something if you can actually read and understand it.

1. What We Collect & Why

  • Mobile Number: To sign you in with an SMS OTP. It is never shown to other users.
  • Name: So workers and customers know who they are talking to.
  • Gender and Date of Birth: Optional for customers, required for workers. Used to confirm you are 18 or older.
  • Address (Customers, optional): So a worker knows where the job is.
  • Profile Photo, Type of Work, Experience and a short About text (Workers): Shown on your worker profile so customers can choose.
  • Location (Foreground only): Used only while the app is open to show nearby work opportunities or nearby available workers. We do not track location in the background once the app is closed.
  • Government ID Photo and Selfie (Workers only): A photo of one ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence or Voter ID), optionally its last 4 digits, and a selfie taken with the camera. Used only to verify the worker. We never ask for the full ID number.
  • Microphone (during calls): Needed for in-app voice calls. Calls are not recorded.
  • Notification Token: So we can alert you about calls and updates.

2. In-App Calling (Your Number Stays Private)

Calls between customers and workers happen inside the Cooliyall app over the internet. Neither party ever sees the other person’s phone number, so both stay reachable without being exposed to spam or harassment afterwards.

3. Worker ID Documents

A worker’s uploaded ID is stored securely in write-only cloud storage. When reviewed for worker profile approval, the verification happens through temporary, short-lived secure links. Every access is monitored and logged.

4. What Other Users Can See

Visible to others

Name, Profile Photo, Ratings & Reviews, Skills/Category, General Vicinity/Distance.

Never shown to others

Real Phone Number, Exact House Address (until booking is confirmed), Uploaded ID documents.

5. Account & Data Deletion Rights
